Dream gardens for a quiet afternoon

Not everyone likes the coast to enjoy the days with good weather that we are having in Galicia, nor to meet with crowds of people in the center of the big cities. Many people prefer to escape to the outskirts and enjoy the peace and silence that can breathe in the less traveled areas of GaliciaVery close to Santiago de Compostela you can enjoy a quiet afternoon in these dream gardens.

 

Pazo Santa Cruz de Ribadulla. For some it is the most fascinating place in Galicia. In the environs of the pazo, located in the concello of Vedra, you can observe magnificent examples of monumental trees among which the walks of olive trees, bojs, Australian fern, the ombú, the pyramidal oak, etc.


Pazo de Oca. Located on A Estrada, this is a garden where some of the oldest camellias in Europe coexist with examples such as magnolios, maples, tulip trees and linden trees. It opens every day from 09.00 to 18.30 and the entrance to the garden costs six euros.


House-Museum Rosalía de Castro. It is preserved as a recreation of a vintage garden, which forms with the house a beautiful ensemble. They are cultivated from the Japanese camellia Rosalía de Castro to other species of Portuguese origin such as Maria Irene, Pomponia or Magnolia Rosea. Its opening hours are from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 13.30 and from 16.00 to 19.00. and Sundays and holidays from 10.00 to 13.30. The individual entrance has a price of two euros (with discounts for groups).


Botanic-Artistic Garden of Padrón. It is one of the oldest gardens in Spain. Its labyrinthine rides treasure more than 300 species. Free access, can be visited from Monday to Sunday, from 09.00 to 21.00 hours.


Pazo de Faramello. Walking along its paths is as if you were traveling in time because in it you can find ponds, pools, natural pools, fountains and canals. This building can be visited in the concello de Rois, and in it is the Xardín do Recordo, in honor of the victims of the accident of Angrois. The ticket price is 8 €  and can be visited on Saturday at noon.


Paideia Foundation. It is in the village of A Escravitude (Padrón) and in it you can observe about 170 different species and unusual plants in the Galician vergeles. It is free and from Monday to Thursday: 09: 00-14: 45, 16: 00-18: 30 h. and Friday: 09: 00-14: 45 h.
